COMPOSER BIO
Marte Røyeng has her background from the singer-songwriter tradition, and studied composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music from 2016–2021. She also holds a BA in Musicology from the University of Oslo and Goldsmiths, University of London. She works with acoustic ensemble and solo formats, as well as electroacoustic music, theatrical expressions, text and movement. Two of her instrumental works have been performed at Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, and her piano piece "GISP" was selected for the Ung Nordisk Musik festival 2021.
A line which runs through Marte Røyeng's multifaceted catalogue of contemporary music, pop songs and music theatre works is a fascination for the scope of human attention – what we notice, what we miss, and what we avoid. As a composer, writer and performer she enjoys creating musical situations where muted or hidden voices can be uncovered – be it human or non-human ones.
